Musician facts 1 to 7

1 Alice Cooper Baby Sat Keanu Reeves

How amazing would it be to grow up knowing a world famous star? It would be fantastic to say the least. Well, that’s a dream that most of us can never get, but not Keanu Reeves. When he was a child his baby sitter was Alice Cooper.

Keanu Reeves was once baby sat by Alice Cooper. When Keanu was young his mother had to work afternoons and she lived across the street from where Alice Cooper was recording. He offered to look after little Keanu for her at the studio. Little did he know what would become of Keanu Reeves, who is one of the biggest names in Hollywood today.

If you find it hard to believe that any mother would ever leave their young child with a rock star, watch the video below. Alice Cooper himself made the statement.

2 The Wiggles Originally Had Five Members

From hard rock to music targeted for a very different audience. The Wiggles are far from a band that will have underwear from their fans thrown at them. If anything were to be thrown their direction it would most probably be diapers, pacifiers and bottles. But if that were ever to eventuate they have one thing going in their favor. The Wiggles originally consisted of five members.

Famous children’s entertainers from Australia, The Wiggles, are mostly considered as a four member band. But did you know that they originally started out as a five member ensemble? Phillip Wilcher was a founding member of the kids band and appeared on the cover of their first album. He departed the band in 1991 before they became famous. The reason behind his departure vary but he has been compared to The Beatles’ Pete Best who left that group just before they became famous.

If you think that the comparison between Phillip Wilcher and Pete Best is a long bow to draw, but consider this. The Wiggles have consistently topped the earnings for Australian recording artist for years. And there have been some very high earning world famous musicians during the same time. It was kind of a big mistake by Phillip.

3 Origin Of The Wiggles Finger Wag

Wiggles Finger Wag

So we know that the Wiggles used to have five members, would you like to know why they wag their fingers? It all has to do with their own security.

According to Paul Piddick, who plays Captain Feathersword The Friendly Pirate, it was a decision to avoid any litigation. What litigation? Well, for a group of men who predominately work with children any accusation of inappropriate behavior would spell the end of the band, and likely prison time for the accused. So does it work?

In all photos of the wiggles with kids you can always see their hands with the pointing finger pose. This way there can be no claim of anything inappropriate. As far as the Wiggles are concerned, any contact with the children is un-called for, even if accidental. By avoiding any contact and keeping their hands where they are visible they are protecting themselves. This is a smart move to not only protect themselves, but also their multi million dollar brand.

4 David Lee Roth Insured His Sperm

David Lee Roth Insured His Sperm

OK, so the Wiggles play it safe and protect themselves from any trouble by keeping things, namely their appendages, to themselves. This is not the normal practice for musicians who are renowned for groupies and living life on the edge. David Lee Roth kind of knew of these perils when he entered the industry, but instead of keeping to himself, he did something which seems a little odd. David Lee Roth insured his sperm.

He did what? David Lee Roth, the frontman for Van Halen, insured his sperm. Why would anyone want to insure their sperm? I mean, it’s not like they will get injured or anything. Even if they did, they would be replaced within hours. Before we proceed any further we must point out that the didn’t insure his wiener or balls, he insured his sperm, and sperm alone. The reason, just like the Wiggles above, was ingenious.

He knew what life on the road was like. Lots of drugs and lots of easy and casual sex. If he were to get one of his roadies pregnant, it could end up costing him a fortune. If he knocked a lot of the roadies up it would send him bankrupt. By purchasing an insurance policy on his sperm he protected himself and his assets from an unwanted pregnancy.

5 Justin Bieber Came Second In A Talent Contest

Well having just finished reading about how a band and a singer have decided to protect themselves, we now move onto someone who needs protection from himself. Justin Bieber. The smug and arrogant young Canadian musician was catapulted onto the world stage when his mediocre song went viral on YouTube, being the most viewed video on the website until PSY nearly broke YouTube with Gangnam Style. But the rise to stardom, vanity and self importance wasn’t the smooth and easy path that everyone thinks the talentless Bieber had. In fact, if everyone around the world who made this less than gracious, wannabe musician famous, was as clever as the judges at a local talent contest were, we could have had one less over bearing asshole on our screens today.

In 2007, in a local talent competition in Stratford, Canada, Justin Bieber came 2nd. He sang Ne-Yo’s So sick and the performance was posted to Youtube and basically began his career.

This really makes me wonder. What happened to the person who beat Justin Bieber in the talent contest, and if that person is a nice person, why do we have Bieber today?

6 The Famous Beatles Decca Audition

We have just finished with one person who didn’t win a local talent contest, yet has gone onto big things with still very limited talent, now to a group with some serious talent. A group that is often regarded as the biggest bad ever, and were told they had no place in show business.

We are all guilty of making bad decisions, but not many equal the decision made by Decca Records when The Beatles Auditioned on January 1, 1962.
In 1961 The Beetles had not yet hit the big time and were in search of a recording company. They were heading for Decca Records in London for an audition that was scheduled for midday, December 31, 1961. They arrived at London 10 hours late for the audition so it took place the following day with 15 songs being performed in only 1 hour.
Now comes the surprising part. A couple of weeks later Decca Records rejected the Bettles’ saying “guitar groups are on the way out” and “The Beatles have no future in show business.” Surely some famous last words. Decca signed a band called Brian Poole and the Tremeloes who auditioned the very same day. The Beetles also tried to sign with EMI Records, but producers Norrie Paramor, Walter Ridley, and Norman Newell all declined to record them. The Beetles later signed with EMI subsidiary Parlophone, after producer George Martin heard the Decca demos, and the rest they say is history.

There’s little doubt that these guys were one of a kind, and it wasn’t until 1984 that at least one of their records were matched. In 1984 Prince had one number 1 album, film and single all at the same time. They were Purple Rain and When Doves Cry. This was an accomplishment that only The Beatles before him had achieved.

Guitar hero funny

The game Guitar Hero: Aerosmith was responsible for earning the band, Aerosmith more money than any of their albums. This was the claim made by Activision-Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, and it would appear to be correct.

The game was released in 2008 as an expansion to the already popular Guitar Hero franchise. The player uses a toy guitar and presses buttons and strums in time with the music. the better the player performs, the higher their score. The game has been criticised for its focus on only one band and its relatively short and easy levels of play. That being said, it was an extremely high selling and popular game. It sold an astounding 567,000 copies in its first week earning more than $25 million. In the three months following its release it had earned more than $50 million, with over 1 million copies sold. Aerosmith also saw a 40 percent increase in their catalogue sales following the release of the game.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is considered the best selling band-centric music game across both the Guitar Hero and Rock Band series.
