Do you know the city with the most skyscrapers? The answer may surprise many.
As cities grow and available land is devoured by an expanding city limit, there are very few options for developers to deploy in creating more space. But a lack of options doesn’t mean that they have none, and the obvious answers are to build up and down.
Now, when making a decision to construct a building, the architects must take into consideration costs and the likelihood of being able to sell the design. Unfortunately digging down to construct a usable structure has many undesirable traits. These include an awful view, extremely expensive to construct, and a real flood hazard. Thankfully one option remains, and that’s to build up.
By building upwards, the landscape of cities have changed over time. In centuries gone by, many cities had multilevel structures, but very few went more than a few stories high. Today the city skyline is both a beautiful and awe inspiring sight, one that’s accentuated at night time.
