Whoa, steady up there. Can this be really true? The original script for Good Will Hunting had an oral sex scene? Believe it or not, but the original Good Will Hunting script really did have an oral sex scene in it. To be specific, it was on page 60. Further more, it was between a man and a woman, it was actually between Sean Maguire (Robin Williams character) and Prof. Gerald Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgård’s character). Holy crap right? Read on for what happened with it,
Why was there an oral sex scene in the original script of Good Will Hunting?
Well I guess that you are probably wondering what the deal with it was? At the time that Good Will Hunting was being written, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were two aspiring writers and actors, still relatively unknown. But being little known at the time doesn’t mean that they had no idea about the business. As a joke, and to see if any of the studio executives, or anyone else associated with its production would notice, decided to include an oral sex scene. They essentially knew that nobody would read the script.
If nobody was going to read the script, why wasn’t the oral sex scene included in the final cut of Good Will Hunting?
Well, apart from surely failing to convince Williams and Skarsgard to participate in such a raunchy sex scene, it was so far out of left field, and didn’t fit in with the rest of the movie that it would never have ever been a part of the final production. but apart from that one studio executive did read the script, executive producer Harvey Weinstein, and he questioned them about the scene. That’s when Damon and Affleck revealed their secret plan behind the Good Will Hinting oral sex scene. They wanted to see who would actually read the script. Surprisingly, it passed through several studios without it ever being noticed.
It does make me wonder though, if the original script of Good Will Hunting had an oral sex scene and was approved for production, who actually reads the scripts?
